EDDIE Pepperell tees off at the Portugal Masters today.

The Frilford Heath member begins his opening round at Dom Pedro Victoria GC, Vilamoura, at 12.10pm, alongside Pablo Larrazabal and Thorbjorn Olesen, from Denmark.

It follows a trio of tournaments in Spain for Pepperell, with mixed results.

The Abingdon golfer tied for 81st at the Spanish Open at the start of October, missing the cut by two shots.

Pepperell then suffered a horror start at the Andalucia Masters a week later, carding a seven-over par 78 for his opening round to effectively end his weekend before it had started.

The 30-year-old was eight-over after just 12 holes, thanks to two double bogeys and a triple bogey.

He recovered with a second round of one-under, but Pepperell could still only tie for 68th as he missed the cut.

The World No 345 saved the best for last with an encouraging performance at the Mallorca Open a fortnight ago.

Pepperell easily made the cut at Golf Santa Ponsa, but a mixed middle two rounds stopped him challenging at the very top.

However, four birdies in his final six holes saw the two-time European Tour winner tie for 40th.

Pepperell is due to fly to the UAE for the AVIV Dubai Championship following this week’s event.
