KARL Robinson hailed James Henry's influence on and off the pitch as the midfielder approaches 200 Oxford United games.

The 32-year-old will bring up his double century if he features against Morecambe this afternoon.

Henry is one of six current U’s players who were at the Kassam Stadium when Robinson arrived in March 2018.

Nobody has played more United games under the head coach, while the former Wolves man has scored 46 of his 53 goals for the club in that time.

Robinson said: “His goal to game ratio is incredible.

“With assists he becomes probably the most valuable player at the football club in what he’s done.

“He’s an incredible human being, we have an awful lot of laughs with Jamo because he’s a bit of a moaner.

“But he’s someone I’ve got on with really well since I walked in the building.

“I’d gone up against Jamo all through my managerial career and when you walk into a building he’s the type of player you go to as a manager.

“One thing I like about Jamo is if I come up with something and he doesn’t agree he’ll tell me.

“He’ll come to me with an honest answer of how the dressing room will see it, it’s never for his own gain.

“That’s why those players become invaluable.”
