DAN Agyei is aiming to seize his opportunity when Oxford United take on Stevenage.

The U’s host Sky Bet League Two outfit Stevenage in the Papa John’s Trophy tonight (7.45pm), knowing defeat would all-but send them out of the competition with one match still to play in Group H (Southern).

An inexperienced side lost 4-1 at Cambridge United in their opening game, with Agyei scoring the consolation from long range.

The 24-year-old’s only starts this season have come in cup competitions and he is set to get the nod again tonight.

“It’s been tough, there haven’t been many opportunities,” the forward said.

“Whenever I get the chance I’ve got to show I should be playing.”

Karl Robinson: Players must accept consequences of not getting Covid jabs

Agyei is yet to add to his goal at Cambridge, but almost scored during a bright cameo at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

He added: “I’m sure it’ll come if I keep doing the right things.

“This is another opportunity to get on the pitch and hopefully score some goals.”

Karl Robinson is set to name a much stronger line-up than against Cambridge, with no game for 11 days after tonight.

Stevenage are 17th in League Two and managed by Alex Revell, who played under the U’s head coach at MK Dons.

Robinson said: “Revs is a really intelligent football person, it’s nice to see him managing.

“When people go through a difficult time early in their career it doesn’t half make you a better manager.”
