OXFORD United’s Sky Bet League One trip to Sunderland has been postponed.

The U’s were set to visit the Stadium of Light next Saturday, but the game will be rescheduled due to several international call-ups for the hosts.

A new date will be arranged in due course.

Sunderland’s Tom Flanagan and Corry Evans join United winger Gavin Whyte in the Northern Ireland squad for the World Cup qualifiers in Switzerland and Bulgaria on October 9 and 12 respectively.

Black Cats midfielder Carl Winchester is on standby, while left back Niall Huggins has been selected for Wales Under 23s.

League One clubs can request to postpone a fixture if three players are picked by their national teams.

Whyte is the only U’s player away on international duty next week, although Mark Sykes and Ryan Williams could be called-up by the Republic of Ireland and Australia respectively in the event of withdrawals.

It means United will go two weeks between League One games, with the visit of Plymouth Argyle on October 16 their next fixture after tomorrow’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

There will also be an 11-day break after Tuesday’s Papa John’s Trophy tie with Stevenage.

Next Sunday sees United Women host Swindon Town in the League Cup at midday, before the Micky Lewis memorial match at the Kassam Stadium at 3pm.
