FANS are being urged to apply for an exciting role that will aim to improve the experience of following Oxford United.

The newly-formed Oxford United Supporters’ Panel is currently seeking candidates who will speak regularly with the club about a wide range of issues.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Monday and Graham Knight-Whiddett, a member of the panel’s working group, explains it is a great opportunity to make a difference.

“We’re looking for people that want to improve the experience, be it something like supporting minorities or helping to grow the fanbase,” he said.

“They might be interested in a specific area – for example, if somebody has an interest in disability they can become the focal point of that.

“Every club’s got their own identity, so it’s very much about meeting the identity of Oxford United fans.”

The panel’s focus is to improve supporters’ overall experience, whether that relates to watching games at the Kassam Stadium or issues away from matchdays.

It will be ‘very much led in the direction the fans want us to go’, says Knight-Whiddett, who is keen to stress it will not be run by the club.

The aim is to have up to 12 members on the panel, which will include a member of separate supporters’ trust OxVox.

Knight-Whiddett added: “It’s worth pointing out there is OxVox as well.

“OxVox is a members’ organisation, it’s very valuable and has a very strong purpose.

“Their role is about the big-ticket items.

“We’re not going to get involved in anything like a new stadium, that would be very much in the remit of OxVox.

“We’re looking at the smaller-ticket items that will help fan engagement.”

All candidates that submit a valid application form by 11.59pm on Monday will be considered for the panel.
