OXFORD United players swapped the penalty area for the putting green today.
U’s stars and staff have joined fans and sponsors at the club’s annual golf day at Studley Wood GC, to the north east of the city.
Matty Taylor, James Henry, Jack Stevens, Steve Seddon, Anthony Forde and Luke McNally are all taking part on their day off, with the squad not in training today.
Head coach Karl Robinson, academy manager Dan Harris and head of sports science Harry Routledge are among the staff involved.
United’s business development manager - and golf day defending champion - Peter Rhoades-Brown was thrilled to see the event well-attended.
He said: “Thank goodness it’s Wednesday and not Tuesday, with the weather.

“It’s the best turnout we’ve had for a number of years, certainly the best from the players’ perspective.
“They wanted to play, which is nice.
“Sam Winnall was desperate to play, but because he was slightly injured last week Luke McNally came in as a late shout.”

U’s players and staff teamed up with sponsors or fans in four-balls, while there are various competitions with prizes to be won.

“Everything goes back into the club, which raises good funds for other things," Rhoades-Brown added.
“Having the fans back in the stadium has really topped everything. This is on the back of that.
“Everyone here is a yellows supporter, be it a business or a supporter from the terraces.”
Goalkeeper Stevens is a relatively new golfer, but was keen to take part.

He said: “I only started over lockdown, it was the first thing that opened back up to get out and socialise a little bit.
"I think I’m getting a little bit better. It’s quite random, one day putting will be good and one day driving.
“We’re all playing with fans or sponsors, so it’s good to have a conversation with them and have that connection.”
