DERICK Osei has left Oxford United by mutual consent.

The French forward joined the U's last August from Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois 29, but played just ten games and has not featured since January.

United reached an agreement to release the 22-year-old from his contract, which was due to expire next summer.

He is now able to find another club as a free agent.

Osei scored in each of United's three group games in last season's Papa John's Trophy, but made just three Sky Bet League One appearances.

He was left out of the U's registered squad in October to make way for a free agent, which proved to be Jordan Obita.

Osei played his final United game on January 12, against Cambridge United in the Trophy, and signed for Sky Bet League Two side Walsall that deadline day.

He played 11 times but did not find the net and returned to the U's this summer.
