CHINNOR have signed seven more players – but three have gone the other way.

Former first XV captain Liam Gilbert returns to the club he left in 2014 to bolster the second row options at Kingsey Road.

The forward helped Chinnor climb the divisions during his first spell, which began in 2009.

He said: “It’s great to be back at a club where I’ve had so many great memories.

“I enjoyed my time previously in National 2 and 3 with a lot of local legends, and I even met my now wife at the Picnic Ball.

“Since I’ve moved back into the area it was an easy decision to get back in the mix with the club.”

The 37-year-old arrived alongside two players virtually half his age.

Dan Thomas, an 18-year-old lock, joins from the Next Phase Academy in Aylesbury and fly-half Will Titherington signs from Birkenhead Park.

They were not the only exciting youngsters through the door, with former London Irish and Wasps prop Rob Hardwick coming in at the same time as Gloucester academy product Alfie North, a blindside flanker.

Chinnor have also recruited two centres in ex-London Scottish man Ryan Crowley and former Gloucester centre James Davies.

Dan Brady, Kris Ford and Joe Pigott were the three players to leave Kingsey Road, after joining the club last summer.

Chinnor face Carmarthen Quins in a pre-season friendly at Kingsey Road on Saturday (3pm).
