EDDIE Pepperell will hope last week’s strong showing is just the start when he tees off in Scotland today.

The Abingdon golfer gets his opening round at the Hero Open, St Andrews, under way at 12.50pm BST.

Pepperell tees off in the same group as Swedish golfer Marcus Kinhult and Benjamin Hebert, from France.

The Frilford Heath member is aiming to follow-up his display on the other side of the Irish Sea last week.

Pepperell carded six-under par at the ISPS Handa World Invitational, which was enough to see him finish joint 22nd.

It was the first time he had made the cut since May, after missing out at his previous three tournaments.

The 30-year-old climbed five places to 261 in the world as a result, but will need a much-improved string of performances.

After competing in Scotland, Pepperell travels south for the Cazoo Classic at London GC in Kent next week.
