OXFORD United will be backed by a sold-out away end on Saturday.

The U’s visit Cambridge United for their opening Sky Bet League One game of the season – and it will be the first time their fans have watched them on the road since March last year.

United’s initial 1,100 allocation sold out on Saturday morning, with an additional 300 tickets made available.

The last seats were snapped up at lunchtime today and head coach Karl Robinson – who will watch from the stands as he serves the final game of a four-match touchline ban – is excited to see the away following.

He said: “The wall of yellow is back - I can’t wait.

“I’m devastated I’m going to be in the stand, because that moment will be quite emotional.

“One of the big signs of managing and playing in this country is the away support that our teams get is far better than anywhere else in the world.

“I can’t wait for that moment the players step on the pitch.”

Supporters who want to attend but missed out can call the club's ticket office on 01865 337533 to add their name to a waiting list.

United fans have not watched their team on the road since the 3-2 win at Shrewsbury Town on March 7, 2020.

It is set to be the biggest away following to watch the U’s since 3,710 supporters travelled up to Newcastle United for the Emirates FA Cup fourth-round stalemate last January.

United sold their allocation for the trip to Wycombe Wanderers on March 21 last year, but the game was cancelled when the coronavirus pandemic forced the suspension of football.
