OXFORD City and Banbury United have the chance to claim local bragging rights in tonight’s pre-season friendly.
Andy Whing’s Puritans host David Oldfield’s side (7.45pm) in a meeting of two teams led by ex-Oxford United players.
Both clubs are fresh from encouraging results at the weekend, with City winning 4-0 at Haringey Borough and Banbury drawing 1-1 with Solihull Moors, of the Vanarama National League.
Oldfield said: “It’s another really difficult game for us.
“It’s important for us to get the minutes in the legs and I know Banbury will feel the same.
“Psychologically, we need to be ready to work again and I’m sure we will be.”
Tonight will be the last game with the Spencer Stadium’s 55-year-old floodlights.
The bulbs were originally used at City’s White House Ground and moved to Banbury when the venue closed in 1988.
