A DOUBLE bogey at the 16th undid Eddie Pepperell’s good work at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.

The Abingdon golfer had recovered from a poor start to go into the final three holes at level par at the Mount Juliet Estate, Thomastown.

But Pepperell took six shots to complete the par-four as he slipped back to two-over for the tournament.

Teeing off alongside Danish golfer Rasmus Hojgaard and Maximilian Kieffer, from Germany, the Frilford Heath member made a poor start.

A bogey at the first was followed by another dropped shot at the fourth, to leave Pepperell with an uphill struggle.

But the rest of his round, bar the 16th, was error-free as a string of pars were followed by birdies at the 13th and 15th.

Pepperell tees off at the earlier time of 8.30 tomorrow morning.
