United faced Spurs at the same stage of the 2018/19 competition, when Sam Smith, Charlie Raglan and Tony McMahon scored in a 3-0 victory.

The first group games are scheduled for the week commencing August 30.

The 48 EFL clubs had been put together prior to today’s draw, with the aim to minimise travel time and maximise recovery time for teams and players.

United reached the semi-finals of last season’s competition, where they lost to Sky Bet League Two side Tranmere Rovers.
