Didcot celebrated the New Year in style as Richard Witt bagged a hat-trick in their 4-0 win over in-form Marlow in Division 1 South & West.

Marlow had won five of their previous six matches but never looked like extending their run after Witt had finished off a flowing Didcot move to put the home side ahead in the sixth minute.

Andy Williams hooked another chance over the bar, while the key moment in the match arrived midway through the first half Marlow's Jermaine Roche fired into the side netting when he should really have found the target.

Didcot broke immediately upfield and Matt Bicknell's cross was headed home by Witt past keeper Kieron Drake to make it 2-0.

The lively Roche went close to reducing the arrears when he crashed a shot against the bar.

A minute later Roche was then guilty of a dreadful miss when an uncharacteristic mix-up in the heart of the Didcot defence presented him with almost an open goal but inexplicably he hooked the ball well-wide.

Marlow continued to dominate in the early exchanges after the interval when Didcot seemed incapable of retaining possession. and the visitors forced a series of corners which failed to seriously trouble Lee Farrow in the Didcot goal.

Gradually, however, Didcot regained the initiative and the game was settled in fine style in the 63rd minute. Witt completed his hat-trick after an interchange of passes between Jack King and Michael Bartley the ball fell to Witt on the penalty spot. Rather than thrash the ball home he coolly beat two defenders before firing low into the bottom corner.

After that, Didcot were able to attack almost at will and they rounded off the scoring with a fourth goal in the closing stages.

Bartley raced clear following great work by Matty Jack, and King was on hand to convert his low cross.
