OXFORD United Women gave their returning fans an entertaining afternoon as they drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest to close out their 2020/21 campaign.

The U’s were unable to claim a fifth straight win of their post-season friendly programme, but goals from Daisy McLachlan and Brogan Moore at least ensured they remained unbeaten.

United were playing in front of their own supporters for the first time in 2021 and seemed determined to put on a show, with both teams going close in the opening five minutes.

They were soon behind, though, as Annabel McKechnie headed home in her final appearance before retirement.

The U’s responded well and enjoyed plenty of possession, with Lily Stevens and McLachlan going close.

The latter would not be denied for long as she levelled on the stroke of half-time.

Captain Lauren Haynes sent a corner into the box and McLachlan was on hand to steer home the equaliser at the far post.

Moore came on as a half-time substitute and almost made an instant impact, finding the net two minutes after the restart, only for it to be ruled offside.

The same player turned the tables before the hour mark, firing home following a goalmouth scramble to give United the lead.

Georgia Brown almost increased the advantage in the 62nd minute, but the visitors restored parity midway through the second half.

This time McKechnie claimed the assist, crossing for Laura Dexter to finish.

Moore almost snatched a last-minute victory when she shot over in the closing stages, but Forest survived to leave with a draw.
