OXFORD United's conquerors Blackpool beat Lincoln City to win promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

The Tangerines, who saw off United in the semi-final, triumphed 2-1 in the Sky Bet League One play-off final at Wembley, courtesy of two Kenny Dougall strikes.

Lincoln, managed by former U's manager Michael Appleton, had gone ahead after just 48 seconds with the fastest goal in play-off final history.

Ollie Turton had struck against United in the semi-final first leg, but this time he opened the scoring at the wrong end.

Brennan Johnson's cross was flicked on and the defender headed into his own net to give The Imps the perfect start.

Jorge Grant hit the crossbar for Lincoln, but Blackpool levelled 12 minutes before half-time.

The midfielder was dispossessed in a dangerous area and the ball ended up with Dougall, who drilled low in to the bottom corner.

It was the Australian's second goal in two games, after he scored in the 3-3 draw with United in the semi-final second leg.

The Seasiders turned it around eight minutes after the restart as Dougall doubled his tally.

Jerry Yates teed the midfielder up on the edge of the area and he found the bottom corner again.

It proved to be the winner, sealing Blackpool's return to the Championship for the first time since 2015.

United will face Lincoln again in League One next season, while Morecambe face Newport County in tomorrow's Sky Bet League Two play-off final for the final spot in the third tier.
