EDDIE Pepperell finished with a flourish as he produced his best performance of 2021 at the Tenerife Open.

The Abingdon golfer carded a six-under par on the final day in Spain, taking him to 11-under for the tournament.

It left the 30-year-old tied for 32nd when he completed his round, although other players are still to reach the clubhouse.

But the Frilford Heath member is still guaranteed to beat his joint-64th at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in March, his previous best performance of the year.

Pepperell had carded three-under par on each of the first two days at Golf Costa Adeje, despite his second round featuring a double-bogey and an eagle.

The World No 199 was similarly erratic on Saturday, with five birdies, four bogeys and a double-bogey seeing him end one-over.

But Pepperell reserved his best for last as he shot up the leaderboard on Sunday.

Four birdies in his first eight holes was only spoilt by a bogey on the seventh.

Pepperell picked up another shot on the 15th, before he ended in style with an eagle on the 18th.
