JACK Frost is certainly causing problems for all concerned at the Stadium at the moment, and has led to the racing office altering their style of grading.

o The problem is, with the track staff being unable to water the track due to the ever present frosty conditions that have already cost one lucrative BAGS meeting, it's proving a boon to the inside runners.

With the going on the inside much firmer than the powdery surface on the outside, the wide runners have little chance.

Some owners and trainers have been calling the racing office claiming their charges are not wide runners and should be nearer the rails.

Now racing manager Gary Baiden has come to the rescue. He said: "We have to change our style of grading to level things out.

"Some dogs are being pushed up two or three grades on the inside, while those in traps four, five and six remain as normal and hopefully we will see more balanced racing."

Even the bookmakers are ignoring the chances of the wide runners, so something had to be done to get over what is a temporary problem.

For as soon as the rain hits the salted surface, 82 bags were put on the sand surface this week, it will be like a quagmire and the boot will be on the other foot favouring the wide runners.

You just can't win.
