OXFORD United Women goalkeeper Rose Kite is not daunted by the prospect of a penalty shoot-out tomorrow.
The U’s host Billericay Town in the third round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup, with another home tie against FA Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic the prize.
Kite made several crucial saves as United won 1-0 at Cardiff last weekend to reach this stage and revealed she would be ready to face spot-kicks.
She said: “We did a penalty shoot-out scenario in training.
“You’ve got to prepare for everything, because you just don’t know what can happen.”
Liam Gilbert: If we get something wrong our chance is gone
The U’s defended well to keep a clean sheet in Wales and Kite has confidence in the players in front of her.
She added: “I feel like I’ve got a really good relationship with my back four.
“That’s important in terms of knowing your players.
“If I believe in them, they’ll believe in me and trust in each other is really important.”
Billericay play in FA Women’s National League Division 1 South East – a level below United – but manager Liam Gilbert expects a stern test.
He said: “They’ve got some very good players.
“If we underestimate them I think we’ll be in for a bit of a shock.”
