JACK Stevens reflected on a job well done after Oxford United matched Sky Bet League One leaders Peterborough United.

The table-toppers had won their last six matches, scoring 15 goals in the process, but were held to a 0-0 draw at the Kassam Stadium.

It left the U’s tenth in the table, six points of the play-off places, but Stevens took plenty of positives from the performance.

He said: “It was nice to get the clean sheet, because they’re a top team.

“We were fairly solid and I think we pushed them as well.

“On another day we might have got a goal and nicked it, but it’s a good point if we win the next game.”

The U's restricted their opponents to few clear-cut chances, but Stevens had to show quick reactions to keep out a flicked header from League One top-scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris in second-half stoppage-time.

He said: “It was a good ball into the front post and I got across quickly.

“Thankfully I was in the right position, because it was a good flick.”

United claimed a point despite Elliot Lee and Sam Long going off with knee and hamstring injuries.

The right back’s issue is with the same leg he damaged at Bristol Rovers three weeks ago, although the severity is unknown.

Anthony Forde and Jamie Hanson impressed in place of their injured teammates and Stevens feels the U’s have the squad to cope.

“We’ve got good players coming on that can fill those places,” he said.

“It’s tough at this part of the season, especially when there’s games every few days.

“There’s going to be knocks and aches and we’ve got to recover right and make sure we’re mentally ready.”

U’s boss Karl Robinson was full of praise for his stopper.

“The save at the end was incredible,” he said.

“He’s so quick off his line and that’s a massive part of our game.”
