OXFORD City were knocked out of the Buildbase FA Trophy at the quarter-final stage after a 3-1 defeat at Vanarama National League side Notts County, WRITES JACK SALE.

The lower-division visitors led at the break through Tylor Golden's own goal but failed to hold on, despite a valiant effort.

It means, as it stands, that City's 2020/21 campaign is over after the Vanarama National League South season was declared null and void.

David Oldfield's side started the better of the two sides and created the first chance.

Aaron Drewe and James Roberts combined down the right to tee up Harvey Bradbury, but his shot was saved by former Oxford United keeper Sam Slocombe.

The County stopper was called into action again in the 25th minute, tipping Roberts' shot around the post as City continued to press.

The away side did take the lead a minute later, albeit with an element of fortune.

Roberts' cross took a wicked deflection and beat Slocombe at his near post, with it eventually going down as a Tylor Golden own goal.

County turned the game around in the second half, though.

Just three minutes after the break, Elisha Sam scored to level things up and he completed the turnaround with twenty minutes remaining with another wonderful finish.

City tried to get back into the game and were undone on the counter-attack in the dying minutes.

Jimmy Knowles rushed clear and finished to make it 3-1 and send City out at the quarter-final stage.
