OXFORD United’s game against Wigan Athletic has been called off due to a frozen pitch.

The match has been pushed back to Sunday instead, kick off at 3pm.

A pitch inspection this morning led to the postponement, but both clubs have agreed to play the game 24 hours later.

Karl Robinson said: “We got a referee in and it was clear to all of us that right now the pitch is not playable, despite covers being on this week, and it won’t thaw in time for Saturday but we are confident that by Sunday afternoon we can get the game on.

“We have said all along this season that we respect the values and integrity of the league and the competition and will always try to play matches whatever the circumstances.

“It’s not ideal, we have a semi-final game on Tuesday against Tranmere, but the new date is the best option with such a congested second half of the season so we will adjust our preparations and we will be ready for Sunday.”
