Sam Long cancelled out Jon Taylor's effort before half-time, but strikes from Fejiri Okenabirhie and Taylor Richards put the hosts in control within six minutes of the restart.
Mide Shodipo's effort gave the U's hope, but they could not turn possession into goals against a side who sit third in the table.
It saw United's nine-game winning streak come to an end, as well as their 13-match unbeaten run.
