OXFORD United have boosted their firepower with the deadline-day signing of Elliot Lee.

The forward joins on loan from Luton Town until the end of the season and follows Joe Grayson’s arrival this afternoon.

Lee was a regular during The Hatters’ Sky Bet League One title-winning campaign of 2018/19, but has found games harder to come by this term.

It meant that when the move became a possibility yesterday, the 26-year-old - who will wear the No 27 shirt - was keen to get the deal done.

He said: “I heard of Oxford’s interest and straight away I wanted to do it.

“I’ve always really liked Oxford as a club, especially the way the manager plays.

“The lads are doing brilliant at the minute, so it was a no-brainer. I’m really excited.

“I’m not the sort of player that wants to be on the sidelines.

"I want to be part of something, I want to be successful and part of a team.

"I was that at Luton but I wasn’t playing as much as I’d have liked.

"It doesn’t bother me one bit – I think Oxford are a great club, they’re fully on the up and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

The forward has played 16 times this season, but has not featured in the Sky Bet Championship since December 5.

Lee has scored 27 goals in 112 appearances since signing for Luton in summer 2017, with 12 of those coming when the Bedfordshire club won promotion from this division three years ago.

He scored against United on the final day of that season, giving Karl Robinson a taste of what to expect.

The U's head coach said: “Elliot played a big role in that promotion.

"He’s one of those players that arrives in the box very late – he has a knack of doing that.

"It’s a real skill, it’s an art form."
