EDDIE Pepperell today tees off for the first time in 2021 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
The Abingdon golfer starts his opening round at 12.45pm GMT, playing alongside Scotland’s Calum Hill and 2018 European Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn.
Pepperell begins the year ranked 137th in the world, following a 2020 that was split in half by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Frilford Heath member played four tournaments before the European Tour schedule was halted in March, returning at the Betfred British Masters in late July, where he tied for 47th.
Pepperell, who turns 30 on Saturday, enjoyed three successive top-20 finishes in October, where the highlight was sixth place at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth – his best performance of the year.
He ended 2020 tied for 54th at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
