OXFORD United’s quiet treatment room has reduced the need to make quick signings, says Karl Robinson.

Cameron Brannagan and Sam Winnall’s returns to fitness mean only John Mousinho is sidelined, but centre back cover was high on the U’s head coach’s shopping list regardless.

Robinson is now faced with leaving available players out of his matchday squad and feels the competition for places has taken the pressure off.

Karl Robinson: signing a centre back is of utmost importance

He said: “Every player is 100 per cent fit and it’s the first time we’ve had that since last season.

“That doesn’t half change your decisions when you have people available.”

With Mousinho set to be left out of the registered squad for the second half of the season and Joel Cooper back at Linfield on loan, United have room for two signings before they reach the limit of 22 players aged over 21.

If the U’s want to add anyone after that they must remove a player first, but Robinson is in no rush.

He added: “You’re asking if there’s anybody out there better than what we’ve got.

“That’s a big difference to where we were seven or eight weeks ago, because everybody’s fit.”
