OXFORD United have signed Olamide Shodipo on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old winger's deal was confirmed with 90 minutes of the transfer window remaining.

He fulfils U's boss Karl Robinson's aim of getting a left winger in to bolster his squad, while the former Republic of Ireland Under 21 international can also play on the other flank.

Robinson told the club's website: "He is an exciting player to watch, very unpredictable but always a threat because he has so much pace and a willingness to take people on.

"We have spoken quite a lot about needing that extra bit of pace that can stretch games and we look forward to bringing him in and working with him over the coming season."

He came on as a substitute in QPR's 1-0 pre-season defeat at the Kassam Stadium in August.

Shodipo's only appearance for Mark Warburton's side in competitive games this term was against Plymouth Argyle in the Carabao Cup last month.

He made 12 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship last season and previously had loan spells with Colchster United and Port Vale.

Shodipo will not meet up with the U's squad until Monday - as the deal went through after midday he is ineligible to feature against Peterborough United tomorrow.
