NICK Collier showed his class as he claimed the penultimate round of Yarnton & District AC’s summer league.

Fishing the River Thames at Cassington, Collier put 16lb 8oz 0drm of hemp caught roach on the scales to see off second-placed Jason Jones.

The latter caught a nice net of roach at 11metres and a cracking perch of 2.12.0 to close in on worm for a total weight of 13.2.0, while match six winner James Pagano was third with 7.8.0.

Meanwhile, Harry Oliver continued his good form in the Oxford Carp League to maintain his lead over Dave Roberts, who is three points further back with a total of 12.

The Long Hanborough angler triumphed at the latest round at Packington Somers, West Midlands, where rod and line tactics dominated.

Oliver’s haul of 55.14.0 saw him win comfortably, while Wantage’s Dave Wilson was second with a weight of 43.8.0 and Dave Roberts, from Coventry, was third on 43.6.0.

One week earlier, Roberts claimed a fine bag of carp weighing 183.6.0 to take the previous round at Meadowlands.

Oliver was second with 131.12.0 and newcomer Ian Higgins, from Abingdon, achieving 91.14.0 to finish third.
