RONNIE Harris benefitted from a chaotic round five of the 2020 FAB-Racing British Championship.
The youngster, racing in the Mini GP50 class, finished third in the final race of three, but was promoted to the top step of the podium after confusion over jump starts.
The Middle Barton resident earlier mastered the wet weather to claim victory in the first event at Ellough Park, Suffolk, but bad luck soon followed.
He was caught up in another rider’s crash in race two, but got back on his bike to finish ninth.
It came after Harris claimed a pair of second-placed finishes at Whilton Mill, Northamptonshire, in round four.
These sandwiched two crashes in the second race, which saw him lose ground in the championship standings.
Harris is currently second in the table, 21 points adrift of the leader, with three rounds remaining.
