EDDIE Pepperell staged an excellent fightback to put himself in contention to make the cut at the ISPS Handa UK Championship.
Starting the day at three-over for the tournament, the Abingdon golfer got back to level par.
Pepperell now faces a nervous wait to see if it is another to reach the weekend at The Belfry, with the predicted cut mark as he finished on one-over.
His day began early, having only played 13 holes of his first round yesterday due to a four-hour suspension for a flooded course.
Pepperell picked up a birdie at the par-five 17th to sign for a two-over par 74.
He slipped back to three-over after an errant tee shot found the trees at the second hole.
But the 29-year-old steadied the ship with seven successive pars.
His hopes of making the cut then got a huge boost with an eagle at the short par four tenth hole.
A birdie on 15 followed to seal a two-under par round of 70 and get just inside the cut mark before the afternoon starters went out.
