OXFORDSHIRE’S T20 double-header with Free Foresters ended with both sides winning once.

The hosts cruised to take the opening clash by 79 runs, but lost the next by 29 runs at Abingdon Vale.

Abingdon School pupil Harvey Jupp, who plays for Stroud, was the star performer, taking 8-48 across the two matches.

Shabaaz Alam set the tone in the first game, hitting three sixes and seven fours in his knock of 60.

Will Sutcliffe (27) and Harrison Ward (25) assisted the opener to power them to 166-6.

In reply, Robbie Shurmer (3-18) helped reduce the visitors to 15-4, putting Oxon in charge.

Jupp claimed 4-29 to mop up the tail as Foresters could only muster 87-9.

The bowler starred again, taking 4-19 in the day’s second meeting as they reached 109-9.

Oxfordshire were 40-1 in the seventh over, but lost seven wickets for 25 runs.

Oxford Downs’ Tom Cosford, who has been picked by the county this summer, took 3-16 as they fell to 80 all out.

Next up is another double-header, against Buckinghamshire at Aston Rowant next Sunday.
