DAN Agyei scored twice as Oxford United enjoyed a second comfortable pre-season victory in as many days.

Dylan Asonganyi, Derrick Osei and Josh Ruffels were also on target in a 5-0 victory against a depleted Banbury United, who could only name two substitutes and needed to borrow U’s under 18s goalkeeper Kie Plumley to play between the sticks.

It followed on from the 4-0 win over Woking on Friday night, but the one note of concern was over Mark Sykes, who limped off with an ankle problem.

United went ahead inside five minutes, when Agyei fired in from the edge of the area.

The striker did well midway through the half to outmuscle a defender and although his shot was blocked, Osei’s powerful follow-up was well saved by Plumley.

It was only a temporary reprieve, as on 27 minutes Sean Clare’s cross was glanced inside the far post by a clever header from Asonganyi.

Former U’s loanee Giorgio Rasulo then fired just wide from the edge of the box, before Osei made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark, swivelling to turn in Rob Hall’s pass from close range.

Jack Stevens saved an acrobatic effort from Henry Landers, but the hosts’ smooth progress was interrupted 11 minutes before the break.

Sykes intercepted a pass but his loose first touch invited a challenge from a defender, which left the U’s No 10 in pain. He limped out with what looked an issue with his right ankle, although it did not look especially serious.

Hall forced a smart save shortly after the break, but the fourth goal arrived ten minutes after the restart.

Kyran Lofthouse was fouled in the box and Agyei took the responsibility to tuck in his second goal of the game.

It was his last kick, with U’s boss Karl Robinson making nine changes.

Malachi Napa was one of those to come on and he had a goal ruled out for offside in a relatively quiet finish to the game.

Ruffels added a flash of quality right at the end, though, with a volley from the edge of the box to add a fifth goal.
