OXFORD United could resume their rivalry with Swindon Town in front of fans as next season's fixture list threw up an early meeting between the sides.

The 2020/21 Sky Bet League One schedule was released this morning, with the U's hosting their biggest rivals on Saturday, October 24.

It means there is a chance that the Kassam Stadium could be part-filled for the clash, with the government planning to allow supporters back into football grounds from October 1.

The game comes 1,357 days after the sides last met, when United won 2-1 at the County Ground in February 2017.

The U's travel to the County Ground for the return fixture on Tuesday, March 9.

Meanwhile, Karl Robinson's men start the season on Saturday, September 12 with a trip to Lincoln City, managed by former United boss Michael Appleton.

Sincil Bank was the scene of a spectacular 6-0 victory for the visitors last season, their record away win in the Football League.

United's first home game comes against Sunderland - which could have attracted a five-figure crowd - while the visit of Crewe Alexandra on October 3 is set to be their first match in front of supporters since they beat Shrewsbury Town 3-2 on March 7.

The U's are at home on Boxing Day, with AFC Wimbledon the opponents, while they finish the season at Grenoble Road against Burton Albion.
