OXFORD United will discover their Carabao Cup first round opponents when the draw is made this morning.
We take a look at how they have started in the competition in recent seasons.
2019/20
Oxford Utd 1 (Brannagan 88), Peterborough United 0
- Cameron Brannagan nets the winner against Peterborough Pictures: David Fleming
Three days after scoring the only goal of the league meeting between the sides at the Kassam Stadium, Cameron Brannagan was again the match-winner.
The midfielder's late free-kick knocked out Posh - and began a run all the way to the quarter-finals.
2018/19
Oxford Utd 2 (Browne 39, Whyte 50), Coventry City
- Gavin Whyte scored his first goal for United in the second hal
While their league campaign began with four straight defeats, the cup provided a bright moment as Coventry were sent packing.
Marcus Browne and Gavin Whyte opened their accounts for the club, who reached the third round to set up a meeting with Manchester City.
2017/18
Oxford Utd 3 (Johnson 21, Obika 31, Xemi 42), Cheltenham Tn 4 (Eisa 9 & 99, Wright 66 & 90)
- Xemi was among United's scorers in the defeat to Cheltenham
An early speedbump in Pep Clotet's reign, as they went out to League Two opposition at home.
They fell behind but appeared to be cruising through when they went 3-1 up by half-time.
But the hosts were pegged back and were dumped out by Mo Eisa's spectacular extra-time winner.
2016/17
Birmingham City 0, Oxford Utd 1 (Sercombe 120)
- Liam Sercombe pounces on a mistake by the goalkeeper to score the winner at Birmingham City
A late, late show at St Andrew's, where Liam Sercombe's header in the final seconds of extra time saw Michael Appleton's side take another Championship scalp.
2015/16
Brentford 0, Oxford Utd 4 (Sercombe 5, Hylton 9, Roofe 12, Mullins 54)
- Kemar Roofe is congratulated after his wonder goal at Griffin Park
The first glimpse that the 2015/16 season was going to be a special one.
Brentford made 11 changes for the game and were 3-0 down within an astonishing opening 12 minutes.
Kemar Roofe's long-range strike was the pick of the bunch, before Johnny Mullins added a fourth after half-time.
- Ryan Clarke saves a penalty in the shoot-out against Bournemouth
This season's competition starts before the league campaign, which is unusual but not unprecedented.
It also happened in the 2012/13 season, when United knocked League One side Bournemouth out on penalties after a goalless draw at the Kassam Stadium.
