OXFORD United want to bring three of last season’s loan players back on permanent deals this summer.

Matty Taylor, Marcus Browne and Liam Kelly are all on Karl Robinson’s wish-list.

While the U’s appear resigned to selling Rob Dickie in the transfer window, the head coach is keen to reinvest.

He said: “I think we need to bid for players, that’s one way round it.

“I think we need to put money on the table. We know the players we want and what they’re going to cost.

“I think there’s a necessity to sign Matty Taylor.”

He added: “Why can’t you go and buy the likes of Browney?

“Bring in young players that will give you the opportunity not only to get promoted but sustain Championship survival.”

Taylor was a big hit, scoring 17 goals to finish the campaign as the side’s top scorer.

The striker is technically a free agent with his contract expiring at Bristol City, who are unlikely to offer a new deal.

He is unlikely to be short of offers from elsewhere, but Robinson is hopeful.

“I want him and he wants to come,” the United boss said.

The club made a sizeable offer to buy Marcus Browne 12 months ago when he was at West Ham.

Middlesbrough won the race, but the move to Teesside did not take off and after only five starts in the Championship the forward was loaned to United in January.

There has also been a managerial change at the Riverside, which could see them prepared to do a deal.

Kelly is in a similar position, having struggled to settle at Feyenoord.

The midfielder spent much of his time since arriving from the Netherlands in January getting fit.

It saw him start just one game, but Robinson has been impressed and Kelly transformed the side after coming on at half-time in the play-off final.

“We’ve seen glimpses of Liam Kelly that are exceptional,” the U’s boss said.

“I think he’s found it hard being away from home.

“The big thing is I brought Liam in unfit. I think if you brought him in now and I could see him in pre-season it gives me a chance to experiment.

“But I wasn’t willing to experiment when we were doing so well and had a formula. Now the formula can restart again.

“He would be on my list.”
