OXFORD United season ticket holders can now decide how to use the money they are owed for the games lost to coronavirus.

The club will today notify supporters of the amount they are entitled to, which would cover the five cancelled Sky Bet League One home games.

Fans with general admission season tickets can either let United keep the money, redeem it for the 2020/21 campaign or request a full refund.

In a poll on the Oxford Mail website earlier this week, 85 per cent of supporters said they would waive their right to a refund for the benefit of the club.

And U's chairman Sumrith 'Tiger' Thanakarnjanasuth told United's official website that the generosity was appreciated.

He said: "We want to keep growing and keep moving forward and most fans we talked to have said that they want to look forward and help the club by not asking for a refund.

"That is fantastic and helps us so much at a very difficult time.

“But also we know some fans have been hit hard by the pandemic and we want to look after them as well, so there are two other options which we hope can help them.

"The bond between the club and the fans is so strong and we ask supporters to help us in any way they can.

"If they can afford not to ask for a refund then we promise that the money will be going back into the club and will enable us to start the new season in the strongest position possible, whichever division we are in.”
