MARCUS Browne has been cleared to finish the season at Oxford United.

The 22-year-old joined on loan from Middlesbrough in January, but an extension was required to cover the remaining matches.

And just as with Matty Taylor, whose deal was confirmed on Friday, the U's have secured the forward for their promotion push.

Browne scored four goals in 11 appearances, eight of which were starts, to help propel Karl Robinson's men up to third in Sky Bet League One.

With Nathan Holland ruled out through injury and Ben Woodburn's deal covering the extended campaign, it only leaves Liam Kelly's status to be confirmed out of United's loan players.

Robinson told the club's website: "Marcus has been brilliant for us and it’s great to have him here a little longer.

"The fans know what a special player he can be and he was a big part of the team in our run of positive results before lockdown began.

“With Matty, Ben and now Marcus available we are in really good shape and as we have said all along, all we want now is a chance to play again and to try to win promotion on the pitch.”
