Ten-man Headington Amateurs live to fight another day after their first-round tie at home to Chadlington was abandoned at 1-1 after 90 minutes due to bad light in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

Chadlington, from the Oxfordshire Senior League, stunned their hosts by taking the lead after five minutes when a cross from the right wing found the unmarked Steve Knight, who struck a fierce shot past Dan Bianchini.

The Hellenic League side hit back straight away. Jamie Mundy hit an excellent cross into the box which Matthew Phillips directed effortlessly past the visitors' keeper.

Mark Johnson and Phillips had shots saved as the home side got on top.

The pattern continued into the second half, when Amateurs had the lion's share of the play.

However, Knight missed an open goal before Headington's Robert Parsons was given a second yellow card for bringing the Chadlington player down.

Easington Sports progressed to the next round with a 6-2 victory away to Oxford University Press, but certainly did not have it all their own way, against their Oxfordshire Senior League opponents.

The first half saw goals from Gareth Source, Adam Daley and Matthew Keenan to put the Hellenic Leaguers in a commanding position.

But in the second half, OUP put up a brave fight to score two goals only to be thwarted by Sports' top scorer Ricky Johnson, who completed a second-half hat-trick, including two late goals.
