MARSTON Saints’ fundraising tally continues to climb – with a little help from three Oxford United players and Marcus Rashford.
The total for the Oxford Hospitals Charity at the end of their week-long running challenge was around £6,500.
Within a day it had passed £7,500 and last night it was closing in on £9,000.
But when gift aid is taken into account, the real amount received by the charity will be into five figures.
Saints’ efforts have caught the eye, with United’s Josh Ruffels, Rob Hall and Matty Taylor recording congratulatory messages to help spread the word.

Ruffels said: “Congratulations to all the lads, it’s an incredible achievement.
“You’ve made a massive effort and it’s not gone unnoticed.”
The trio chipped in themselves, joining more than 450 backers.
Ben Green also received a message on Twitter from Manchester United and England striker Rashford.
Well done bro 👊🏾

The Saints midfielder said: “It’s all helped get the exposure out there, for all of them to take the time has been great.
"My notifications after Marcus Rashford's tweet just went crazy.”
The mantle has now been picked up by Heyford Athletic, who began their own seven-day challenge yesterday.
And they got off to a quick start, with the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 2 North side passing the £1,000 mark in a few hours.
