STONESFIELD closed the gap on Witney & District FA Premier Division leaders Carterton with a 6-0 win at Carterton Town A.

It was the final action in the league for the foreseeable future, following the decision to halt grassroots football as part of measures aimed at tackling the coronavirus outbreak.

With several games already being called off, Stonesfield made the most of Carterton’s inactivity.

Carry Rice hit a hat-trick, while Raffy Rice (2) and an own goal completed the tally.

Doubles from Ryan Lewis and Luke Manning helped Hailey to a 4-2 home victory over Spartan Rangers.

Donny Henderson-Sowersby and John Clarke replied for the visitors.

In Division 1, Hailey Res stayed in touch with the top two as they saw off hosts Witney Royals 4-2.

Josh Edwards, Cody Davies, Joel King and Dan King were on the mark for the visitors, while Royals replied through Ben Hoare and Josh Grant.

Bampton United defeated Kingham All Blacks 3-1.

Jake Pritchard, Frazer Cooper and Kieron Colley scored their goals, with Dan Lay netting Kingham’s reply.

Division 2 table-toppers Hook Norton dispatched Wootton Sports 5-1.

Jay Mair led the way with a brace, while there were also goals for James Ingham, Max Harris and Max Bayliss.

Karl Guschtscha hit back for Wootton, but it was a consolation.

Jake Farrugia hit the only goal as Brize Norton beat Spartan Rangers Res 1-0.

Runaway Division 3 leaders Bletchingdon hammered hosts Stonesfield Res 7-0.

Jimmy Deabill and Jamie Hudson bagged braces, with Richard Wells, Mason Connelly and Chris Fennell also on target.

Aston cruised to a 6-1 victory at home to Witney Royals Res, Aaron Robins and Sam Aston netting twice.

Alex Murrell and Shaun Brown scored their others, with Kieran McIntosh bagging Royals’ consolation.

East Oxford Rangers top Division 4 after beating Sherborne Harriers 5-2.

Gareth James (2), Marcus Owsnet, Kieran Peedell and an own goal gave East Oxford the points, with Sherborne replying through Josh Betteridge and Dave O’Connell.

There was a nine-goal thriller at Spartan Rangers A, who ran out 5-4 winners over FC Ascott.

Telmo Fernandes and James Macke both scored twice, with Ethan Barrett also on target.

Ascott hit back through Neil Mustoe, Stephen Kilpatrick, Brian George and Liam Robertson.
