MATTY Taylor says his player of the month award belongs to the whole Oxford United squad.

The striker’s seven goals in six games made him the judges’ pick for the Sky Bet League One prize for February.

But the Bristol City loanee was quick to spread the credit around, especially to James Henry, who had set up several of his strikes.

“He could easily be sat here to be honest, as could a number of others,” Taylor said.

“It’s obviously nice to be nominated and win awards.

“It just shows you that us as a team are doing something right.

“The boys have been supplying me and I’ve managed to put a few in, but it’s more of a team award.”

U’s boss Karl Robinson said: “I’m made up for him. It’s a tremendous achievement by him and the players to assist his goals.”

Taylor is the first United player to win a monthly award since Ryan Clarke in January 2014.

But for the fourth time this season Robinson received a nomination without scooping the award, this time losing out to Coventry City.

The head coach said: “It doesn’t bother me one bit, which is a good job.”

Ramon Diaz remains the last U’s boss to win an EFL manager of the month award, in January 2005.
