OXFORD United boss Karl Robinson believes there will be some level of disruption to the EFL season in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

A range of action has taken place across other European countries, including suspending football altogether.

So far the measures in England have been minor and at this stage there are no indications Saturday's Sky Bet League One game at home to Milton Keynes Dons will be subject to any restrictions.

But when asked if disruption was inevitable, Robinson said: "I think it is, yes. I think we’re all just waiting for the phone call.

"Personally I don’t think it will be this weekend, but it wouldn’t surprise me if on Sunday or Monday we get told we’re delaying it.

"That’s my own, uneducated opinion of it."

He added: "I think what will happen is the imminent action will be a game behind closed doors.

"That will be stage one and then what you’ll find is our chairmen and our governing body will say this isn’t working without the people, then all of a sudden we’ll do without it for a period until it’s deemed safe to roll the ball again.

"Let’s just see what happens, we’re all in a bit of a pickle right now with what’s right and wrong."

Robinson would prefer a suspension in the season to playing games behind closed doors.

He said: "We’re a pointless industry without the people who come and watch us.

"Personally I’d like to maybe call time on the league season for a period and then maybe push it back for maybe ten days and then go Saturday-Tuesday for four weeks.

"When you look at most of the play-off games they are generally right after the season and then there’s a 15-day wait until the final.

"So if the players end up going Saturday-Tuesday and then the final’s on the Saturday.

"I know it will be hard on the ticket sales, but it gives us more opportunity to fulfil the league season with people sat in the stadium."
