MARK Sykes’s form for Oxford United has earned a call-up to Northern Ireland’s senior squad for the Euro 2020 play-offs.

The 22-year-old has been picked for squads twice before in the last nine months, but is still waiting for his first cap.

Sykes, who has featured in 32 of United’s 35 games in Sky Bet League One this season, will meet up with the group a day after the trip to Wycombe Wanderers.

As a result of the selection, he could miss the home game with Portsmouth on March 28 – although if either side have three international call-ups the fixture can be rearranged.

Michael O’Neill’s men head to Bosnia & Herzegovina on Thursday, March 26 for their semi-final.

Should they win, it would see Northern Ireland face the victorious side from the other last-four clash in their section – between Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland – on Tuesday, March 31.

The victorious side on the night would then qualify for Euro 2020 in a group alongside Spain, Sweden and Poland.
