ALEX Gorrin says Oxford United will seek to make the most of the red-hot partnership between James Henry and Matty Taylor at Shrewsbury Town this afternoon.

The pair have scored nine of the side’s 11 goals in their four-game winning streak.

Henry has also been the provider for seven of Taylor’s 17 strikes across the campaign and Gorrin believes United need to stick to the successful formula.

He said: “Just give it to Jamo, he puts it in the box and Matty scores. It’s pretty simple.

“When they’re in this great form we try to look for them.

“If you put it in the box Matty is going to score, he can smell a goal and it’s really good when you have a player like that.”

United have not won five straight league games in a single season since April 2008, but another three points would see them leapfrog Wycombe Wanderers – who are not in action – to move back into Sky Bet League One’s play-off places.

They triumphed last time out on the road, but the 1-0 success at Ipswich Town is their only victory in five away games and Gorrin knows standards have to be higher to stay at the sharp end.

He said: “It has to change – if we want to achieve the goal we have to get wins away from home.

“We know we are very strong at home, but we need to get more points away.”

Shrewsbury are among a group of mid-table teams who are realistically safe from relegation but too far adrift to mount a play-off push.

But that does not mean the U’s will be reading anything into their tag as favourites this afternoon.

Gorrin said: “There’s no such thing, every game in this league is very hard.

“It will be tough, so we have to be at our best to make sure we get the three points.”

Today’s trip comes after United’s first blank midweek for a month, which has allowed the players to recover from a hectic February.

Gorrin said: “When you have a period where you play so many games, sometimes it’s harder to get those results.

“Now we’re into the last ten games and we just need to keep at it. It’s just one game a week and it won’t be so hard on the body.”
