JESS Street crowned an excellent Devon Under 17 competition with gold in the girls’ doubles.

The teenager, from Banbury, partnered Avon’s Jenny Tofts in victory, before teaming up with Bicester’s Anthony Peverell to claim silver in the mixed doubles.

The unseeded pair performed superbly to beat the top seeds 15-13, 18-16 on the way to winning their qualifying group, before losing narrowly in the final.

Adam Burden and partner Andrew Harrison, from Sussex, took silver in the boys’ doubles at the Under 19 DK Way tournament in Hertfordshire, despite playing up an age group.

At the Northumberland Under 13 event, Oxford’s Jamie Wakefield won silver in the mixed and boys’ doubles, with Yorkshire’s Lilly Mae Wood and Siddharth Mehra respectively.

Wakefield and Mehra earlier produced a thrilling semi-final in the boys’ singles, as Mehra took a 26-24 victory to leave Wakefield with bronze.

Ashley Cawte claimed boys’ singles bronze at the Devon Under 11 event, losing to Hampshire’s Charlie Qi at the semi final stage.

The pair then teamed up to take bronze in the Under 13 boys’ doubles.
