OXFORD United say they are closely monitoring developments with the coronavirus outbreak and have asked supporters attending matches to follow Public Health England recommendations.

No cases have been reported at United, but they have stressed the club are taking the situation seriously.

Meetings have been held involving managing director Niall McWilliams, academy manager Dan Harris and the club’s medical department, including club doctor Rebecca Whiticar.

Other than discouraging handshakes at the training ground, it is business as usual.

Yesterday, Wolverhampton Wanderers announced they would be limiting public engagements by their employees and had asked players to avoid taking selfies with fans or signing autographs.

The football programme in Italy has been badly disrupted by the outbreak, but there is no suggestion at this stage of games in this country being postponed or played behind closed doors.

However, the EFL has been providing guidance to clubs.

And United have urged supporters to be diligent when attending games, including washing their hands regularly and avoiding close contact with people who are unwell.
