SOUTHEND United have appeared relegation-bound for some time after a truly horrendous season.

The Shrimpers have picked up fewer than 0.5 points per game, with just three Sky Bet League One wins to show for their efforts.

But Oxford United cannot be complacent tomorrow, as these players will surely be desperate to spring a shock.

STEPHEN MCLAUGHLIN

The midfielder is one of the longest-serving players at Roots Hall, with well over 150 appearances dating back to 2015.

The 29-year-old has never been prolific in front of goal, but his four strikes make him Southend's joint-top league scorer for 2019/20.

JASON DEMETRIOU

Another of the Shrimpers' experienced campaigners, the defender has endured a difficult season due to an ongoing knee problem.

He has been absent in recent weeks, but Campbell will surely call on a player with more than 400 senior appearances sooner rather than later.

SAM BARRATT

The winger is still feeling his way back into the side after he was sidelined for 16 months with a cruciate ligament injury.

Barratt, 24, is an exciting prospect and claimed his first assist in the 3-2 defeat to Burton Albion last weekend.
