OXFORD United’s comfortable victory in midweek helped conserve energy for today’s game at Ipswich Town, boss Karl Robinson hopes.

AFC Wimbledon were thrashed 5-0 at the Kassam Stadium, with the U’s scoring their fourth goal after only 55 minutes.

It allowed Robinson the luxury of resting players, including Mark Sykes, who was reporting a minor niggle.

He said: “We saved our legs in the last 20 minutes, it wasn’t like we were pushed to the limit.

“We brought off Sykesy, Browney and Holland.

“Sykesy had hamstring issues on the day, but they’ve settled down.

“Marcus and Nathan were 100 per cent precautionary.”

Ipswich will be without joint-top scorer James Norwood, who had an operation on his groin yesterday and is unlikely to return for at least a month.
