HAGBOURNE United came from behind to reach the semi-finals of the North Berks League Charity Shield with a 2-1 victory over Watlington Town on Saturday.

Watlington were a goal and a man up at half-time, Jake Braim giving them a 40th-minute lead after Lewis Noble had been sent off.

But Hagbourne battled back and levelled after the break, when a free-kick from Ross McDonald was met by Kieron Cooper, who fired in from close range.

Then with 70 minutes on the clock, Cooper went down under the challenge of Watlington keeper Tom Plumridge.

McDonald made no mistake from the penalty spot to give Hagbourne a hard-fought victory.

Berinsfield reached the last four with a 4-1 win at home to Long Wittenham, their goals coming from David Murphy, Luke Holdsworth, Howard Hawkins and Joe Bennett.

An Ollie Nadin hat-trick, plus further strikes from Niall Hodgkins, Daniel Perry, Frank Haines and Harry Stanley gave Saxton Rovers a 7-0 triumph over Cholsey United.

Drayton also reached the semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over Steventon, thanks to a Pat Walsh double.

Saxton Rovers Res went four points clear at the top of Division 2 with a 4-1 win at home to Dorchester.

Chris Winstone fired the visitors in front, but second-half goals from Nathan Carter, Connor Spraggs, Ryan Johnson and Sam McKenna gave Saxton all three points.
