KARL Robinson is not worried about the playing surface at the Kassam Stadium ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with Blackpool.

The last time Oxford United played at home was against Ipswich Town, when play was suspended due to a prolonged torrential downpour.

While the fixture was eventually completed, the playing surface looked to have suffered.

It would be a problem for the U’s, whose game relies on being able to move the ball on the floor quickly.

A scheduled FA Youth Cup tie the following day was delayed – and then switched to opposition Preston North End – in a bid to protect the grass.

But United’s involvement in the Emirates FA Cup away at Newcastle United last weekend meant a home game in Sky Bet League One with AFC Wimbledon was postponed.

And Robinson believes having a fortnight’s break has allowed the surface time to recover.

He said: “I’ve not been there since the Ipswich game, but we have a wonderful grounds team who work so hard on that pitch.

“We’re very proud of it. Hopefully it will be in tip-top shape for the weekend.

“We’ll be all right.

“I think having that break on the pitch has done it the world of good.”
